1940 Grand Piano Music Box, from The House of Snider, Bakelite, Reuge Swiss Movement, 1940's, The House of Snider, Harry Snider & Co, Toronto, Canada (stamp on bottom). The inside movement, music piece is a Reuge Switzerland (Swiss movement and Reuge are impressed upon the moving pieces. The top is a heavy, beautiful piece of Bakelite (see the Bakelite test with Simichrome in picture), with an ornate gold gilt colored metal , a scroll of music enclosed in a wreath and ribbon. This gold gilt metal completes the rest of the piano, with beautiful detail on sides. The top lifts open and rests on two ornate hinges which displays the beautiful Bakelite bottom of lid, and exposes a hidden trinket space, and the Swiss movement. The turn key is on the bottom, and works well. Turn it, and beautiful music plays. It is in very good to excellent vintage condition. The music box is 4 9/16" tall x 8 5/8" x 5 1/4". A completely stunning piece of art, music, and history all in one.......
